Application for BA and MA Programmes

The British University in Georgia offers the following undergraduate and graduate programmes:

The enrolment rules and terms for citizens of Georgia and international students are established by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.  

  • Applicants with a full general education or equivalent who have successfully passed the Unified National Examination are granted the right to study on the British University in Georgia’s undergraduate programmes.
  • Applicants who have successfully passed the Unified Postgraduate Examination and internal university exams are granted the right to study on the British University in Georgia graduate programme.

Regulations and terms for admission to the British University in Georgia’s programmes for applicants who have not passed the Unified National Examination and Unified Postgraduate Examination are defined by the Order of the Minister #224/n (29.12.2011). In such cases, applicants are required to follow these steps:

Step 1

Applicants are required to submit a completed application form. The application review process will take from 3 to 5 business days. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview to confirm that they meet all the programme requirements. Successful candidates will receive a Conditional Enrolment Letter from the British University in Georgia. 

Step 2 

Applicants should send a Power of Attorney to British University in Georgia to represent the applicant to the LEPL National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) for recognition of the applicant’s education status acquired abroad (outside of Georgia) and for granting the right to enrol in the higher educational institution without the Unified National Examination and Unified Postgraduate Examination. The feedback process from the NCEQE takes approximately 1 month. The service fee (including translation, notarisation and application fee for NCEQE) is 130 GBP (approx. 180 USD). The fee is non-refundable.

After the successful final enrolment, the applicant is required to pay the initial tuition fee and will receive the confirmation of the payment, an Enrolment Letter and an Invitation Letter from the British University in Georgia.

    • Citizens of foreign countries or without citizenship who obtained the complete general or its equivalent education abroad (outside of Georgia);
    • Citizens of foreign countries (besides the students of joint higher education programme and exchange programmes), who are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualification abroad (outside of Georgia) in higher educational institutions recognised by the legislation of the respective country;
    • Graduate candidates who received relevant certificate of completion of higher education abroad (outside of Georgia);
    • Citizens of foreign countries (besides the students of joint higher education programme and exchange programmes), who are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualification abroad (outside of Georgia) at master level of studies in higher educational institutions recognised by the legislation of the respective country;

    The required documents for bachelor candidates:

    • Application Form. 
    • A copy of citizenship document; an applicant without citizenship should submit the copy of residence permit.
    • A copy of the document certifying the complete general or its equivalent education abroad (outside of Georgia) /Copy of school-leaving certificate.  Or, instead of the copy of school-leaving certificate, citizens of foreign countries (besides the students of joint higher education programme and exchange programmes), who are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualification abroad (outside of Georgia) in higher educational institutions recognized by the legislation of the respective country must submit the copy of document certifying the credits received or the copy of the document certifying the qualification.
    • Written consent (conditional enrollment letter) of the principal of an institution selected by a high school graduate on the possibility of his/her enrolment in vacant positions within the scope of the general number of students (with indication of name/surname and education programme).

    The required documents for master candidates:

    • Application Form.
    • A copy of citizenship document; an applicant without citizenship should submit the copy of residence permit.
    • A copy of the bachelor’s diploma issued by a HEI recognized by the respective foreign country. Or, instead of bachelor diploma, citizens of foreign countries (beside the students of joint higher education programme and exchange programmes), who are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualification abroad (outside of Georgia) in higher educational institutions recognised by the legislation of the respective country must submit the copy of document certifying the credits received at master level of studies or the copy of the document certifying master or equivalent degree issued by the recognised higher education institution.
    • Written consent (conditional enrolment letter) of the principal of an institution selected by an applicant on the possibility of his/her enrolment in vacant positions within the scope of the general number of students (with indication of name/surname and education programme).

    Any foreign language document is subject to the notarisation of its translation into Georgian language. 

Citizens of Georgia are subject to pass the Unified National Examination and Unified Postgraduate Examination. The exceptions include: 

  • Citizens of Georgia who received complete general education abroad (outside of Georgia) or its equivalent and who received general education abroad (outside of Georgia) for the last two years;
  • Citizens of Georgia (except students of the joint higher education programme and exchange programmes) who, no less than 75 days during a semester, reside/resided, or are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualitifcation abroad (outside of Georgia) in higher educational institutions recognised by the legislation of the respective country;

Note: in this case, citizens of Georgia have to pass the  General Skills Test organised by LEPL – National Assessment and Examinations Center to be granted the right to continue studies. 

  • Master candidates who obtained the academic qualification abroad (outside of Georgia);
  • Citizens of Georgia (except the students of joint higher education programme and exchange programmes), who, no less than 75 days during a semester, reside/resided, are currently studying/studied and obtained credits/qualitifcation abroad at master level of studies in higher educational institutions recognised by the legislation of the respective country;

The required documents for bachelor candidates:

  • Application Form.
  • A copy of citizenship document.
  • A copy of the document certifying the complete general or its equivalent education abroad (outside of Georgia) /Copy of school-leaving certificate.  And, a copy of the document of the last two years of complete general education studies abroad (outside of Georgia).
  • Or, a copy of the document certifying the obtained credits at higher education institutions abroad (outside of Georgia) or diploma issued by the higher education institution recognised by the legislation of the respective foreign state. In this case, a copy of the residence permit or other document certifying the stay of a citizen of Georgia abroad (outside of Georgia) no less than 75 days during a semester.
  • Written consent (Conditional Enrolment Letter) of the principal of an institution selected by a high school graduate on the possibility of his/her enrolment in vacant positions within the scope of the general number of students (with indication of name/surname and education programme).

The required documents for master candidates:

  • Application Form.
  • A copy of citizenship document.
  • Written consent (Conditional Enrolment Letter) of the principal of an institution selected by an applicant on the possibility of his/her enrolment in vacant positions within the scope of the general number of students (with indication of name/surname and education programme).
  • A copy of the bachelor’s diploma issued by a HEI recognised by the respective foreign country.
