The University of Buckingham – the oldest independent university in the UK. It is closely linked to Margaret Thatcher, who as Education Secretary oversaw the creation of the university college in 1973, and as Prime Minister was instrumental in helping it gain its Royal Charter which elevated it to full university degree-awarding status in 1983.
The University of Buckingham has been ranked 1st out of 129 universities for student satisfaction for the last three years. As of 2020, the University of Buckingham had a student population of 3 300 originating from more than 70 countries. In 2020, the University of Buckingham signed an Agreement of Academic Affiliation with the British University in Georgia meaning that our students’ awards are validated by them.

International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international, non-profit organisation founded in 1987. The organisation supports new and growing democracies and promotes the development of the electoral system.
The International Republican Institute (IRI) is an American nonprofit, organisation committed to advancing freedom and democracy worldwide by helping political parties to become more issue-based and responsive, assisting citizens to participate in government planning, and working to increase the role of marginalised groups in the political process – including women and youth. In 2022, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the British University in Georgia and the IRI.
Meisei University was founded in 1964 with five departments in the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering. The following year, three departments were added to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with the Department of Economics. Meisei University is part of the Meisei Gakuen Institute, which has been providing education since 1923, and was one of the first higher education institutions to offer Postgraduate Distance Education.
Unique Learning is an English language centre that has been successfully operating in Georgia since 2012. The centre has been implementing various exchange and scholarship programmes targeting the UK. Unique Learning will support the British University in Georgia in its academic activities, providing support to students, as well as academic and administrative personal to improve their English proficiency.
